I was messing around in PSP one day and came up with a galaxy effect I thought you might like to try.

Step 1

Open up a new image in PSP with a black background. Don’t make it too big, or this will take ages.

Step 2

Click Picture Tube, and if your ‘Tool Options’ box isn’t up, right click the icon and select ‘Tool Options’. Change your options to these:

Step 3

Now using your mouse, click all over the image to create little purpley stars everywhere.

Step 4

Go to ‘Effects’ > ‘Geometric Effects” > ‘Twirl’, and set it to 720 degrees, or -720 degrees if you like. Press ‘Ok’.

Step 5

You should now have a nice twirl, but we want to fade it a bit so go to ‘Effects’ > ‘Blur’ > ‘Gaussian Blur’, and change the ‘Radius’ to ‘5.0’.

Step 6

Press ‘Ctrl’ and ‘C’ (or copy), ‘Ctrl’ and ‘Z’ (undo) and then ‘Ctrl’ and ‘L’ (pastes as new layer). Then go to ‘Layers’ > ‘Properties’ and change the ‘Opacity’ to between 40 – 50%. Now you should have this:

Step 7

Now repeat steps 2 and 3, only don’t go too crazy with the extra stars! This is what I got:

Step 8

Don’t like the colour? Change it with my colourising tutorial.
