Step 1

Open up a new image in PSP. Bear in mind that this tutorial is pretty loose, and you don’t have to follow it exactly. You can use an image you’ve already made if you like, in which case start the tutorial from step 6.

Step 2

Go to the ‘Colour Palette’ (the colour menu on the right of the screen), and select a gradient to use by clicking the tiny black arrow to the right of the ‘Foreground’ colour box, and then clicking the second (grey) icon, circled in red below. I’m using autumn:

Step 3

Now use Flood Fill to colour your image in. Here’s a small version of mine:

Step 4

Go to ‘Image’ > ‘Texture Effects’ > ‘Tiles’, and change the settings to make an interesting effect. Here are mine if you want to use them:

Step 5

Now you should have something interesting, like this:

Step 6

Go to ‘Effects’ > ‘Geometric Effects’ > ‘Warp’, and match your settings to these:

Change your settings for different results. If you don’t like the final colour, see my colourising tutorial.
