Past Couple of Days

I can’t believe it’s October already, it’s just over 2 months to my birthday and not that long until the end of 2005! Scary…

I’m wondering whether to set up a separate blog for uni stuff, because I’m not even writing 75% of what happens in this blog, because otherwise I’d be blogging at least twice a day or something stupid like that lol. Knowing my luck though, I’d start another blog and then have nothing at all to say…

So yesterday I went to a Medieval Studies seminar with Sarah, and it was horrific. I hate Old English with a passion, but Sarah’s a Latin/Greek lover (lol) so she thought it was good. I wasn’t in a good mood to begin with as the cleaner (Karen) knocked on my door at 8:30 am (after saying she was going to come at 9) when I didn’t even have to get up until 12 noon (or 12:30 if I wanted to push it). The most annoying thing about it is that if my room was just one room down, it would be cleaned around 11am on Monday, when I’m not here anyway. But nope, I have a lot of early Tuesdays to look forward to lol. Ok that was just a general moan, I’m not a lazy person and to be honest, I’d be up and off to breakfast around that time anyway, and once I start getting lots of work I’m sure I’ll be grateful for the early morning call :P I’m the kind of person who wakes up and is instantly out of bed (usually), so it’s all good.

After Medieval Studies, we went to our Modern Literature seminar, which is going to be the best part of the course. But no one else turned up and we were all, What?! And this guy called Jamie was also there so we knew we didn’t have the wrong room. So we trekked back to the English building only to find that Modern Lit. seminars held fortnightly (that’s once every two weeks for you Americans lol) Typical, the thing I hate most is weekly and the thing I love most is fortnightly :grr:

Tuesday night was the bar crawl, and loads of people opted out of it so it ended up just being me and Nika and 6 Karni reps lol (Karni = Karnival, our student charity that organises various social events). But we went to some really cool bars, like a gothic one where the toilets are behind a fake bookcase, and one which served Willy Wonkas, a cocktail with real chocolate and cream. I got kind of drunk lol *cough* But I had Nika and the reps looking after me, and they rocked. And I got a t-shirt with all the places we went to listed on it, and by the end of the night everybody had drawn all over us (including various bouncers and bar staff), so I have that to remember it by lol. Definitely one of the best nights out, it rocked :)

Yesterday I had nothing on since my drama lecture isn’t until next week. So Sarah and I walked to the Sainsbury’s in Beeston and bought some stuff. Then after lunch I went bowling with 8 other girls from my corridor, which was great fun and only £2 a game as we’re now officially poor students :P Then last night, I borrowed Nika’s TV for an hour and a half lol  I feel a bit guilty but I miss TV so much. There’s a big flat screen TV in the common room but there are usually people watching something else lol. Nika was tired and pretty ill, and I was tired too so I just went back to my room and watched ‘Clueless’ on my laptop and read a bit before falling asleep around midnight I think.

Today is my busiest day, I have 3 lectures of an hour each. Lol yes, that is my busiest day, I’m lucky :P In total I have just 10 hours/week of lectures, seminars and workshops. The people doing Medicine (and there are lots of them on my corridor) have nearly 30 hours a week, mainly 9am-5pm, and their course is 5 years I think :S I may type up my timetable and post it at some stage, it’s kind of confusing because a couple of things are only fortnightly, which is going to take some getting used to.

Okay, I have to get my stuff ready and tidy my desk a bit before my lecture at 11, so I’ll blog again soon

Well you don’t have a very busy week do you? I suppose when you get further into the year you’ll be expected to do loads outside of the lectures and stuff.

Argh, it should have been the other way ’round: the thing you love most weekly and the thing you hate most fortnightly (or even monthly, haha). They should’ve told you though… or maybe you didn’t listen when they did? haha.
10 hours of lectures a week? That really isn’t much, lucky you! Poor Medicine students!
Glad you had fun at the bar crawl, it sounded really good!!

Hehe, yep, it’s October already… Hehe, I don’t like Old English also. Anyways, wow, your classes sounds interesting… Probably better than mine’s! Hahah, Thursdays are your busiest days? Mondays are mine’s… I have lecture for an hour, then a 3-hour lab, and another lecture for an hour and 15 minutes, with only 10 minute breaks in between those 3 classes! Anyways, I have to get going now, so take care!
