Night of the Gingerbread

So much going on and I just can’t be bothered to blog…At the moment my time is just being eaten up by coursework and sleeping, it’s crazy.

Most of my friends went home on Saturday for ‘Reading Week’, which is basically a week without lectures but we were told we’re technically not really supposed to go home. So everyone did anyway.

After spending Bonfire Night completely on my own doing work and generally cursing my friends for abandoning me, I was only relieved to go home the next afternoon. Ironically, just as I had sat down to eat lunch on my own, Richard, Rena, Chinese Poker Guy and another girl whose name I can’t remember, all came to join me. So I guess it was just a case of me not being able to find some of my friends, lol. Anyway. I criticised Poker Guy for having nothing on his plate but fish, cheese, and possibly a potato, and told him he needed some salad. At which point he asked me how to use the salad table. The salad table is basically a table with bowls of various salad stuff, so it wasn’t exactly hard but he seemed genuinely confused/scared. Even though we were sitting next to it. He was all, ‘Huh? How do you do this?’. So I told him Spoon > Salad > Plate. He ended up taking about half an hour to work it out and then ended up not eating it :hmm:

So yeah. On Thursday we went to the Christian Union pub-style quiz, which was fun. We won a box of chocolates, yay! Then we went to Livie’s room and played Cranium. For some reason, I’d had a pen with me and spent most of the quiz drawing on Scotty Tom (hey he started it!), and when it came to Cranium I had an irresistable urge to put the pen in Poker Guy’s bottle of VK (as you do). So then I apparently ‘owed him a drink’, because the pen had been in my mouth, Paul’s and on Scotty Tom’s arm. So instead of doing the normal thing which was to check the other halls’ bars and the main campus bar to see if they were open, we ran to the nearest town which is about 15-20 mins’ walk normally, but took us about 5 mins. Then after we found a pub, I bought him a drink, and then he bought me a drink. So after all that running around in the dark at stupid times, I still owe him a bloody drink. And I stupidly went out leaving my keys in the lock of my door. Miraculously, nothing got stolen…

I’m all over the place chronologically with this blog, but never mind. Tom bought me a box of decorate-your-own-gingerbread men people. i.e gingerbread shapes, icing, and sprinkles. So I took them into the JCR one night when I was bored. It started off just me, Alex and Nina, but then we moved on to gingerbread voodoo and attracted a lot of people including Tom (a different Tom), Richard (a different Richard), Mike (I think he’s called – he’s insanely tall at 6″7′ or something), Jen, Welsh Phil, Teresa, other Phil and some others. After we finished decorating the gingerbread and then recycling it to create yet more people, the guys piled icing and sprinkles about 3 inches thick on to the last gingerbread torso (a voodoo Welsh Phil, I think), and dared each other to ‘down it’. :P The fun wasn’t over yet as we then went on to draw bracelets on the guys with the icing, which was quite fun. After that, Tom put icing on my nose and elbow, and I tried (unsuccessfully) to lick it off. At this point we found out that the other Phil could, in fact, lick his elbow, which freaked us all out. After that Teresa brought Pringles and pink wafers and other goodies and we just sat around chatting. As Alex described it, the gingerbread episode was ‘disturbingly fun’, which I completely agree with. I’ve never had so much fun for £1.49.

On Friday night, Nika’s friend MJ Michael came to stay, which was fun as we went to a few bars and got a bit drunk :P Erm..yeah. And then the next day I met Jenni’s friend Tom who was fantastic. I hope he comes again soon so I can actually talk to him for more than five minutes next time!

So now I’m at home and it’s good to see all my family again. It’s my mum’s birthday tomorrow (she’s 53), and I hope she likes the present I got her :)

Last night I went to the pub quiz here with Tom, Em and Ellen. It was nice meeting up with them again. Tomorrow I’m going to college in the morning with Em and Ellen, and then maybe go back to Em’s for lunch, which I’m looking forward to as I was really tired and a bit moody at the quiz :) A chance to redeem myself, I think.

I have the luxury of TV for a week so I’m going to take advantage of it, and also hopefully get some coursework done before dinner, so I’ll leave it at that
