Step 1

Open up a new image in Paint Shop Pro.

Step 2

Copy and paste the following image into PSP:

Now get to your Patterns by following the image below:

Step 4

Find the checkered pattern, then click ‘Ok’ and click . Click your image and you’ll get a checkerboard background.

Step 5

You could vary it by changing the colours using my colourising tutorial, or selecting () then the squares.
