Have you ever wondered how people make their photos look really soft and nice? This tutorial uses the Gaussian Blur effect to show you how.

Step 1

Open up your image in PSP. It doesn’t have to be a photo, but the end result tends to look better if it is.

Step 2

Go to ‘Effects’ > ‘Blur’ > ‘Gaussian Blur’, and change the radius to 5.0. Click ‘Ok’.

Step 3

Your image will be pretty blurry, so press ‘Ctrl’ and ‘C’ (copies), ‘Ctrl’ and ‘Z’ (undoes) and finally ‘Ctrl’ and ‘L’ (pastes as a new layer).

Step 4

Then go to ‘Layers’ > ‘Properties’, and change the ‘Opacity’ to somewhere between 40 and 60%. Click ‘Ok’.
