People sometimes say I’m a negative person, but in fact, the opposite is true. I see the potential in everything, and I immediately think of ways to make it better. The people who think I’m pointing out the ‘flaws’ are actually more negative; I’m pointing out the ‘improvements’.
Over the past few years now I’ve been frustrated by my websites, and generally the community style niche I’ve been part of. I’ve seen the increase in sponsored posts and the ‘mom blogs’ and everything else, but that’s just not my style. I want something more focused and more ‘natural’. I don’t want to write blog posts and stick random links in about products I’ve never tried but the sake of a few quid or a few bucks.
I’ve written before about not being able to find the focus of this website and what I want it to be about. The weird thing is that at times when I’ve been less settled in my life, my personal site has been more constant. Now I’m happy and settled across my whole life, this website has been at the back of my mind.
Or was, until I decided to forage into the world of paid advertising and affiliate websites. I’ve bought a few domain names recently, and it’s swiftly becoming an addiction. I’m trying to develop as I go along, and I want to build a long term strategy for myself. I’m working on a portfolio style site, a photo site, a couple of sites for clients, and an Adsense/affiliate site. So far, all are going well, and the Adsense site is making me a bit of extra pocket money. I like that I’m keeping all the commercial stuff away from Blossom, but I’m intending to split it out into posts specifically for personal stuff – travel, day to day stuff and random thoughts – and web stuff like SEO, making money online, domain names, resources and so on. I think these divisions will help make things clear and easy for everyone, especially me. I’m still not sure what to do with Star-Girl.org; I know I’m going to keep it, but I don’t have time to look after it right now.
I have the dreaded problem of taking on too much, not finishing anything, and trying to stop myself from taking on more. I could take some holiday from work to knuckle down and get things done, but as usual I’m being too impatient. Instead of dashing around from one thing to another I need to make a list of tasks and set deadlines for myself. It’s strangely not hard going considering I’m working forty hours a week as well; perhaps because I enjoy it all so much. If only I could give up sleep I’d be fine.
I keep feeling that this post should be about the riots in England that have happened recently, but I really don’t have anything fresh to add to the conversation. It’s kind of scary that the nearest ones were less than a couple of miles away, and horrible to have to worry about friends and family too. Fingers crossed they are over and done with now.

I really want to get back into the webdesign life and your sites always inspire me. are you going to share the links of your new sites on here at any point?
11/08/2011 at 6:33 pmI remember visiting your site as a high school student 5-6 years ago when searching for personality quizzes. Maybe that wasn’t blossom.nu, but the quizzes I saw were definitely the same ones that you have now. I like the way that you site is now, and I like reading your posts. I’m not a fan of the mom blogs that are filled with sponsored posts, and I like that you keep your moneymaking stuff out of this blog.
What you do is your decision. Just pointing out the things that I like at the moment. :D
11/08/2011 at 8:26 pmReading your post reminds me of my old self. I was once, working without realizing day or night and got my health affected. Then I started to realize thing are not gonna be worth if we’re doing all thing for sake of “money”. And since then, I’m doing thing which is what interest me. I’ve never been so happy like now.
I guess what you’re doing now, you enjoyed it. Then I believe it should be on the right path(although that is depends on how one treats it) but at least you’re happy.
