Owing to the fact that I keep starting things and not finishing them (hello there semi-complete new website, photography stash blog post and new Blossom theme), it kind of looks like I’ve not been doing anything. It’s not how I normally do things, and it’s kind of indicative of how my brain and moods are flicking around a lot between all kinds of thoughts and emotions recently.
Suddenly it’s weeks later and I realise I’m very behind with the whole photo challenge thing. This is partially due to the fact that I want to take photos at weekends for better light and more time, but my weekends have been pretty busy and I haven’t had a chance to get out there. There’s been a bit of a dark cloud as well, mainly caused by my ridiculous sleeping pattern/lack of sleep last week, which killed my motivation. I’m a creature of structure, and it does help my general stability overall to plan things and just get stuff done.
I’ve been quite up and down generally. Unfortunately, when I’m depressed, I end up watching a hell of a lot of TV and playing a lot of computer games. Although it’s good to have some down time, I’m also conscious that it’s taking up a lot of my creating and writing time, which is something that gives me a lot more enjoyment in the long term; when I’m well I find it very hard to do anything as passive as watching TV for longer than a couple of hours at most. I have emails sitting in my inbox from people asking about advertising that I just haven’t got round to. I have about five to-do lists of things I’m behind on.
Balancing work and my own projects and social stuff hasn’t really been as easy as it should be, but I’m getting there. I’m determined to get my autumn photos done this weekend before the leaves disappear altogether, reply to emails, finish the new theme for Blossom (or at least get further along with it), go to a Halloween party, and somehow find some time to relax.
My job has been pretty hectic due to the fact that I had a fairly last minute idea for a Halloween contest. As with all my ideas, it started off relatively simple and got increasingly (overly) complicated; I’ve managed to rein it in by making some sacrifices, but it’s still consumed a lot of my time and been really stressful. I always say that I’ll never have another idea, but somehow they always creep in regardless. It’s probably better to have too many ideas than too few, but I still can’t shake the feeling that I should be working on something else, or kill the doubts that say the entire thing would have actually benefited from being done that way instead of this way…
…let’s just say I deserve a weekend and leave it at that!
