I am a weird hybrid of geek and girl. I’m possibly the only person in the world who has a shelf with both spare RAM and leg shiny stuff on it.

I’m also possibly the only person in the world who buys both Reveal and New Scientist for fun.

This weekend I went shopping with the lovely Ells and Jon, and came across this gorgeous set of drawers:

I just had to have it, and when they asked me what I was going to put in them, I quickly said ‘Jewellery!’ without really thinking too much about it. But I must have sounded pretty convincing, because they let me buy it, and even carried it home for me. Awesome.

When I got home I had a bit of a dilemma about where to put it, since it’s not even close to matching anything I own in any possible way. At the moment it’s in the guest/spare room, which is currently also doubling as a mock dressing room (I think I might be slightly out of control with that – I have almost a whole wardrobe in there dedicated to just winter scarves, bags, and jeans that don’t fit me).

I ended up sorting out my entire jewellery collection, and it brought back a lot of memories and reminders for me – number one being that I need to buy some kind of jewellery cleaner, but anyway. It’s almost all costume jewellery, but most of the pieces have some kind of special meaning attached. I like unusual, quirky and one-off type pieces…so it’s kind of obvious what I’ve bought for myself and what other people have bought for me.

So as I am a product of the computer geek generation, instead of making too much of an effort to actually wear all my jewellery more, I’m simply going to take photos of it and upload them to Pinterest. That way I can just look at whatever piece I want wherever I want, and it’ll be like I’m actually wearing it. But better.
