Last year I planned a lot of good things to counteract the bad stuff that kept happening. This year, I didn’t really intend to plan a lot of good stuff (other than a much-needed holiday), but it’s kind of worked out like that anyway, and it’s amazing. I’m so happy, and really enjoying my life – properly – for the first time in well over a year. I don’t normally do the ‘this is what I did Monday, and this is what I did Tuesday’ kind of posts, but I have been ‘doing all the things’ as the post title states, and I think it’s quite helpful to have a list of happy things I can look back on.
The weekend
saw me going down south to visit my lovely friends Hannah and Dan. Hannah and I went shopping, out to eat and then on see Little Shop of Horrors. It was a fairly last minute thing; there was nothing on at the local theatres that really appealed, so I decided to check what was on in Cheltenham. It turned out to be a good decision; the Cheltenham Playhouse is probably the smallest theatre I’ve ever been in, and the cast was small too, but I loved the staging and the performance, and there was a really friendly atmosphere.
Monday
was my second doctor’s appointment, which – ironically – made me incredibly anxious. I was fine after it was over, but it’s all a bit scary and new. Thankfully my doctor is absolutely lovely, which makes a massive difference. I have an initial assessment booked for next Monday, and after that they’ll decide what’s happening re therapy. I have been doing some exercises – despite Halo’s best attempts – with mixed results. I find them really tough, just because it involves reliving so much I’d blocked out and don’t want to think about.

Halo decided he was the best form of therapy…and I can’t really argue.
When I got home I decided to cheer myself up by buying Trine 2: Director’s Cut Edition and The Cave – I still haven’t had a chance to play The Cave since they took a long time to download, but I can’t wait to get started.
Tuesday
one of the guys from work had leaving drinks, and so a lot of us went out for burgers…and a few of us stayed on for drinks. Three bars later and with work at 9am the next day, I was definitely ready for bed. I had a fantastic time but I didn’t get home until 2:30am, and I didn’t get to sleep until gone 3. The problem with mostly giving up caffeine is that it affects you a lot more when you do have it. I’m sad to see another person I like leave, but we’ll definitely be keeping in touch and helping each other out with web projects, so I’m sure I’ll still speak to him a lot.
I also found out (via Facebook, since the mailing list I signed up to didn’t send an email, again) that tickets were on sale for The Legend of Zelda: Symphony of the Goddesses concert. I went to the Zelda 25th Anniversary Symphony concert back in 2011, and I absolutely loved it. Last time I hadn’t even realised tickets had been released, so we ended up with fairly rubbish seats, but this time I caught it quite early and bought the most expensive (read: best) tickets on offer. They are literally in the first block of the stalls, only a few rows back from the stage. I’m not sure whether this will help on the photo opportunity front at all (my ones from 2011 are so blurry, and apparently you’re not allowed to take photos anyway?!), but quite honestly I probably won’t be that bothered. The atmosphere last time was electric, and I loved every second.
Wednesday
I had tentative plans to go out, but they ended up not happening and I was pretty tired anyway, so I just had a relaxing evening playing computer games and watching TV.
Today
would normally be a work day, but I’m off to Bruges for a mini-break. When we booked it last month, it was because I wanted something to counteract the inevitably grey and depressing winter months. Thankfully, the past six weeks have been much better than expected, and it’s been an extra thing to look forward to rather than something to counteract ‘bad stuff’. The last time I was to Belgium was when I was in college, almost ten years ago (!), and I’ve never been to Bruges so I’m really looking forward to it – especially as it’ll be the first time I’ve taken my DSLR abroad.
See you next week!

I went to the LA Symphony of the Goddesses concert, and it was awesome. So if you get a chance to go, you should definitely go.
I can’t wait to hear about your trip! Your kitty is very sweet. :D
10/02/2013 at 3:58 amSounds like you’ve been enjoying yourself, which is good to hear. I’ve never been to Bruges either, but it looks like a nice place. I hope you’ll share some pictures with us when you’re back!
10/02/2013 at 2:12 pmI can’t wait to hear how your trip was! Bruges was the only place I visited in Belgium and I would love to go back. I really really want some more of the chocolates I bought while I was there haha.
10/02/2013 at 3:57 pmIt’s good to plan a lot of good things. It’s even better when good things happened when you didn’t plan that kind of stuff out. I’m glad to hear that you’re enjoying life :).
It sounds like you had an interesting week. Halo looks so adorable! :3. Giving up caffeine isn’t that bad. I’m trying to give that up slowly and I’m replacing it with natural juice instead.
I hope everything stay just as good (or get even better).
Take care.
11/02/2013 at 12:50 amTotally agree with your cat – they are the best form of therapy. I hope the doctors visits help and you get everything on track and start feeling better and are able to move on from the things that you blocked out that still cause you pain.
