You know how some people take a while to wake up in the morning and get going for the day?
That’s totally not me.
My brain is constantly wired and I find it very difficult to relax. Just as I’m winding down, my thoughts drift towards an idea, and I’ve woken myself up again. I know how frustrated people get when they can’t come up with ideas or get inspiration, but I get frustrated by exactly the opposite. Having so many ideas about everything in the world all the time is exhausting. Go to sleep, brain!
Despite having a great time in Turkey, London and Sussex respectively (blog posts to follow at some point), I was still struggling with life generally. I was talking to Joe’s family about a couple of things and their reaction was along the lines of, ‘You’re dealing with a lot right now’. Considering I hadn’t even told them a third of what I’m trying to deal with right now, it made me realise that actually I don’t give myself enough credit. When you have problems that you ask people’s advice on and they reply with, ‘That sounds really hard. I don’t know what to suggest,’ it’s actually more beneficial than they realise…because I know then that it’s not just me.
Most days I’ve just wanted to go home after work and collapse on the sofa with a drink, trashy TV, a takeaway and the cats. But instead I’ve been working on projects, going to the gym, and preparing and planning all kinds of healthy meals. It’s made me feel so much better about myself and life generally, and it’s exactly what I need right now. Just have to be careful not to burn out – going to bed around 1 am and getting up around 7 is a bit of a killer.

The sunny weather (hey, where’d it go?!) means I got up yesterday, did a yoga workout outside, made a strawberry and banana smoothie and then strolled to work past baby swans and ducklings relaxing in the canal, in glorious heat. Perfect way to start the day.
Outdoor yoga in the sun backed by the sound of the canal.
I also bought a budget book for the house. We need to work out both business and household spending to really get on track with everything. Normally I kind of go off how much money I have in my account as to whether I can afford things, but I need to pay more attention to where my money goes and how much stuff costs. I think this will also help me plan for healthier homecooked food more as well.
Nothing says ‘serious budgeting’ like a super cute book!
Aaand I even replaced all my dead plants over the weekend. This is something I do on a fairly regular basis as killing plants is something I’m very good at ;) We cleaned and painted the garden decking, and now all we need is a new fence and a tower BBQ and we’re all set for summer. I even bought some strawberry plants, but it’s a little late in the year to be planting them so we’ll see how they get on.
As organised as all that sounds, you should see the state of my bedroom. Three trips away in three weeks means I have half-empty bags, piles of books, and lots of laundry everywhere. The cats have to negotiate an obstacle course before they can even get to my bed, and I’ve not even finished unpacking my suitcase from Turkey (almost a month ago now). So that’s basically the reason why there aren’t yet blog posts with plenty of pictures, but I’m hoping to catch up this weekend. We’ll see how that goes since I have my first cupcake class on Saturday and I’m planning to head to town and buy a copy of World War Z, since the film is out soon.
I read a business book a while back which had advice along the lines of: Forget about cleaning. Forget about watching TV. Work on your business. Pretty sound advice, but I’ve extended it to work on myself as well. It’s all about the balancing act. It’s all about saying ‘Well, I could work on that new website tonight but I haven’t been to the gym yet this week’. The impossible balancing act of everything in the world is feeling a bit more possible :D

You’re the 3rd blog that I’ve been to, and you’re also the 3rd person to have started budgeting recently! Is this becoming a trend?! Hehe! I haven’t been around the web in the blogging world in a few months, so I have no idea what’s going on! Hehe!
09/06/2013 at 4:37 amYou ate so active! I hope that you aren’t burning out, because burning out sucks. Have you ever tried meditation? It’s like yoga minus the physical workout aspect. I find that it helps me calm down and get focused.
I can’t wait to see pictures from Turkey! (I hope that that gets you to post the pictures sooner. :-))
11/06/2013 at 4:42 amCute budget book! I love having a budget and seeing where my money goes. I do my budgets online though using Microsoft Money 2003. I hate having a busy life. Right now I feel like I have no time for myself either.
