The Past Few Days

Ok, so what have I been up to?

Wednesday I ended up working from 9 – 4 pm, which in one way isn’t as bad. However, because they were no longer sure whether I was going to work an entire day (they have a stupid rule that you need to to be entitled to a break), I wasn’t booked in for an official lunch. So I spent over five and a half hours staring at a computer screen without any kind of break. By this time I was moderately pissed off and managed to wangle a break from two of the guys I was working for. In the morning I spent some time testing programs in German, Italian and French  Then I was told I’d be taught ‘implementation’, which was great. It consisted of filling out a page of fields (title, text, etc.), and choosing a template (showandtell, imagemap etc.), and then when I clicked ‘Create Page’, it created an interactive page of the program complete with template. I even got to use some HTML

Thursday I was supposed to be working, so I got up early just in case they called, but they didn’t, so we had the day free. Didn’t really do much as far as I can remember – probably spent most of the day playing computer games and sufring the net. In the evening we went to the local pub to see what their bingo was like. We were definitely the youngest people there. It was bizarrely addictive though :???: Then we came back and everyone else had a pillow fight but I was too knackered lol.

Yesterday We went to the nearby sandwich shop for lunch, yum :) I cleaned the conservatory, moved the bedside table from Phil’s room into mine and tided my room, as well as sorting out the laundry and doing some of that. Phil (our summer housemate) left yesterday, so the house seems really empty now, especially as Nika went to London for the weekend. Meh. So that’s all I’ve been up to really.

Today I need to go to town so I can go cash my cheques in. I’ve got Phil’s rent (£260), plus my first ever paycheck (it’s only £50 but I only worked a few hours), and my mum is sending my cheque for damage deposit from uni last year, so if that comes before we go it’s all good. Slightly annoying though as I didin’t break/damage anything in my room and yet got charged more than Nika who wrecked hers lol (I got £52 and she got £72). Grrr. Anyway, that money should pay off about half my overdraft  I have so many bills – gas, electricity, water, hosting, Internet and phone to pay for. My Paypal account is practically empty *is scared* I also want to set up online banking today, it will be more convenient as the nearest cash machine is quite far away, and I can plan things in advance if I know exactly how much is in my account etc.

Oh – and I also cooked! *shockhorror* I was bored the other day so I made toffee and marshmellow, and white chocolate and raisin krispie cakes. Very easy and quick to make – just melt the toffee/chocolate in the microwave for a few seconds (contrary to my housemates’ belief, you don’t have to use a cooker), add cereal and marshmellows/raisins and stir. Then place into paper cases, leave to cool a bit, then harden them in the fridge :)

Long hous, that sucks. I’m sure you shouldn’t have to go that long without a break though.

    Bingo? Hehe

Bills, one of the unfortunate things about growing up, having fiscal responsibility. Pesky Bills.

Ooohhh, we made them things in cookery once at my school. They’re called Marshmellow Crunchies if I remember rightly

Ooooh yummy cakes =) Mind you, I work in a cake shop so.. anymore of those and I’d throw up haha. Ahh sounds like work is tiring, especially with no breaks. I get 30 minutes on an 8 horu shift and that’s awful enough let alone none at all.. yuck =

Holy poo! how is ANYONE able to work five hours without a break? When I was in elementary school I got bored after two hours of work! (Of course all we had to do was listen to the teacher ramble on and on and on and on and onand on about geography, heh)

You worked for five hours straight??? And I think school is hard! lol

But on a yummier note, those cakes look awesome. I bet they’re very tasty…. (ah! now I’m hungry!)

Wow it seems like you’ve had a unique week yourself, but fun none the less . I’m so glad I’m too young for bills -_- I’d have to hunt myself down and strangle me for the high bills. I dunno how you people do it all haha.

But as almost everyone, if not everyone, has said. Those cakes are really good tasting, I think I might try it, when we get a new microwave.. Ours moans

Isn’t it just wonderful when they don’t give you a break at work? I remember working my first shift at BK when I was 16… a closing shift, meaning I started at 4pm and wasn’t done until 11pm. It was almost 9pm when the manager remembered me, heh.
