I’ve not had time to do any (unpaid) work, so if you’re reading this thinking ‘Why hasn’t she replied to my email yet?’, I’m really, really sorry. I will reply. I will.
Anyway, last week looked a little something like this (+ 40 hours in the office running the whole department and power tripping. Well, not so much power tripping as just using the hashtags #PowerTrip and #AllTheMinionsAreBelongToMe)…
Friday – Sunday: WordCamp! Half written blog post in progress, so more on that later.
Monday – Food shopping. Exciting.
Tuesday – Therapy appointment followed by dinner out and a production of The 39 Steps. It was a random decision to go, but a very good one because it was really funny. (And nice and cool in the theatre; my house has been 40 degrees recently. Which is HOT for England). Therapy was actually really positive and I’m probably going to get signed off tomorrow…and I’m happy about that. I feel like I’ve done a lot to help myself and I’ll probably do a more in-depth blog post on that at some point.
(Photos in this post are awful quality because they were taken with my phone).

Wednesday – Second Wednesday/Speak the Web. Four speakers rather than two. I generally enjoyed it, but some talks were better than others. Worth going though.

Thursday – Went out for dinner with Joe and then it was time for the Notts Programmers meet up (I’m still not a programmer in case anyone needs clarification on that). We ended up sitting outside Pitcher and Piano which was a lovely place to have drinks, although I did feel a little underdressed in jeans. £10 for one alcoholic drink and one soft drink seemed just a little overpriced…but then I’ve been spoilt on free drinks for rather a long time with all the events I go to and freebies I end up enjoying ;) I ended up meeting a guy from work who I’d never met before, which was pretty cool, although I think I probably scared him a little bit.
Friday – I changed my plans at the last minute and went out for dinner and drinks (not necessarily in that order) with some of the guys from work.
Saturday – A couple of my uni girls who I haven’t seen in years came to visit and we had a lot of fun mostly involving eating and shopping in various places (including an amazing buffet which was basically the food equivalent of Disneyland/world), then playing computer games at my house.
Sunday – As if I hadn’t eaten enough this week, we went out for lunch and then I did some more shopping on my own. I was on the hunt for a cupcake carrying case, and ended up getting two for £2 (much cheaper than the £30 Amazon wanted). And then we watched TV and got a takeaway. Exhausting.
Last night I made cherry vanilla and double chocolate orange cupcakes for work today…

It was the first time I’ve used my new KitchenAid mixer and I still got buttercream rage, but mostly because two tone buttercream is a massive pain. I think I’ll stop doing it because it’s horrendously messy, fiddly and stressful. I’m working on it, and I still need plenty of practise, but I’m finally happy with the buttercream taste and texture if not my final piping results. I get a bit stressed because I want to get things done and done quickly – I don’t have three hours to spend on cupcakes and I’m always tired when I make them.
…and today we’re back to the start of more busyness. This week I’ve deliberately kept more free in order to catch up with boring things like cleaning and laundry and hopefully do some web stuff. That’s my aim, along with my last therapy session and at least three gym visits to counteract all the meals out I had last week, and lots of healthy eating. Yay for a quieter week :D

Those cupcakes look delicious and I love the icing design. I wish I could make nice looking cupcakes lol. I think my problem is waiting for them to cool before putting the icing on.

26/07/2013 at 10:35 amPoundland of all places! They have the regular cake boxes too. Not the most amazing quality but definitely worth a look, and they do the job just fine :)
