Normally when I haven’t blogged for a while, it’s one of two things: I’ve been really depressed, or I’ve been really busy.

This time, it’s not either of those things. I’m really happy. If I were a bit more of a walking cliche, I’d be describing myself as ‘in a good place’. I can see already that 2013 is not going to be without challenges, but everything seems a lot clearer and brighter than it did last year. I can cope. I can be happy without unhealthy reliance on other people or specific distractions. I’m so happy I don’t feel the need to write about it, and I’ve been spending a lot more time offline generally.

Sadly, this means there’s a short interlude where I’m going to talk about the weather. It’s not really been snowing that badly here (I consider two feet to be ‘badly snowing’, though I know that’s nothing in some parts of the world ;)). As usual, because I’m always late to the party, I finally managed to get out and take some photos after it had started to melt. Accompanied by a cat. The cats absolutely hate the snow, but for some reason Sin decided to come out with me and follow me around whilst I took photos.

Life has been lovely and uneventful generally. I’ve had some great nights out, relaxed a lot, and generally spent more time with people I care about. Today I happened to come across the most amazing cake decorating shop literally just down the road. The people there are so friendly (we were offered drinks as soon as we came in, and one of the guys instantly started chatting to Joe about websites), and as well as some amazing stuff, they also do a range of classes at evenings and weekends. I’m definitely dragging one of my friends down to the vintage cupcakes class, and I’ll probably go to a few others as well when I’m free.

I’ve booked a long weekend to Bruges next month, and I’ve also booked flights (no accommodation yet) to Turkey in May. That along with various theatre trips (Little Shop of Horrors, Me and My Girl, The Full Monty and Seussical), plus a wedding, next week’s NACONF, and various promises to go and see friends means I’m going to be pretty busy offline for a bit. There’s a lot to look forward to, and that’s exactly the way I like it.
