It’s a gorgeous day, and I’ve been running around like a crazy person trying to get everything done before I leave for Leeds tomorrow. I’m actually flying to Rome on Monday, but I’ll be staying at my friend’s tomorrow night as we’re going from Leeds airport rather than the one fairly near here.

Today I’ve started packing, found everything I need to take other than my sarong (which I like to use as a light blanket on holiday as it’s really long), paid the electricity and gas bill, bought sunglasses, taken some recycling, changed some more pounds into euros and various other things. The exchange rate is terrible right now, it’s practically £1 to 1 euro. It’s easy to calculate how much I’m spending, but at the same time my money isn’t going to go far in a city that’s more expensive than London.

My friend is actually going to a conference for some of the time, so I’m hoping that I can get internet access of some description. We’re staying in an apartment and there’s definitely no access there, but I should be able to get some mobile internet. I’m going to take my netbook, and I know I should be relaxing but I have lots to do. So I might blog whilst I’m away, but we’ll see what happens. If I don’t have internet access, I can write some articles and I’ll be spending the rest of the time reading, revisiting Rome’s sights, and probably shopping. I’m hoping we can make it to Capri too – it’s easily one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever visited and I’d love to go back there.

I’ve been to Rome a couple of times before, in 2005 and 2008, but this time I’m going to try and get much better photos with my Lumix. I really want a DSLR, but at this rate it’s going to have to wait until Christmas.

So now I can tick ‘Blog at Blossom’ off my things to do list, and then I only have another 14 left…joy! At last I’ll be able to relax next week :)
