28 things I learned at 28

Today is my 29th birthday! I feel like every year I’m still learning more and more, and more of what I learn is about life and the world interspersed with random skills like photography and baking and how to be a happier person. This suits me so well, because I’ll always love learning new things and random facts.

In the spirit of turning 29, here are 28 things I learned over the past year…

  1. It’s possible to accidentally be the cause of a huge nuclear disaster.
  2. You can get hired with a gif.
  3. I hate made-up tech words.

  4. ‘You want people who either want to sleep with you or hate you. The middle is stupid. The middle is wasted. Seriously, no one remembers the middle.’ (From Interesting things I’ve been reading recently)
  5. ‘Sucking at something is the first step to actually being good at something’, just like Adventure Time claims.
  6. You can make double the money for the same amount of work.

  7. ‘Done is better than perfect’ might actually be true.
  8. You can make ‘fudge’ in a slow cooker.

  9. I don’t actually care what happens on Facebook.
  10. Paris is a beautiful place.
  11. Not having a kitchen is the worst thing ever.

  12. I’m rubbish at hosting BBQs.
  13. I’ve been blogging for half my life and I’m still getting better at it.
  14. Everything you own should be beautiful or practical (or preferably both).
  15. You can still change the world at 73.
  16. The true definition of insanity.

  17. The right decisions can be the hardest.
  18. If you survive a 25,000 volt electric shock, people will still mock you.
  19. I spend too much time playing Candy Crush.

That moment when you're just too damn good at Candy Crush. #candycrush #candycrushsaga

  20. You can mail yourself but not a flying squirrel > The strangely successful history of people mailing themselves in boxes
  21. If your cat disappears for eight months, they can still arrive back totally fine as if they’ve only been gone a few hours.
  22. Medium hates me.

  23. You can be good at things you hate.
  24. Decision making can (sometimes) be easy.

  25. Corporate bullshit is exhausting.

  26. There’s a government position for cats.
  27. You are enough.

What have you learned this year?

So many great lessons! I’ll have to try making fudge is a slow cooker. It’s one of my favorite candies to make. And Happy birthday! A little late! :)
